Durch speziell konstruierte Strangpresswerkzeuge können Rohre mit größeren Außendurchmessern oder auch Rohre mit einem größeren Verhältnis von Außendurchmesser zu Wandstärke allein durch Strangpressen hergestellt werden. Ein nachfolgender Ziehprozess ermöglicht die Herstellung kleinerer Außendurchmesser von bis zu 5 mm.
